The history of Mercedes-Benz dates back to 1926. This year, joined under the auspices of Deutsche Bank, Daimler-Motoren Gesellschaft and Benz & Cie AG to Daimler-Benz AG. Here the star as well as the Mercedes brand of the Daimler-Motoren Gesellschaft were acquired and the new brand name Mercedes-Benz was created.

From 1953, the Daimler-Benz AG presented with W120 the first Mercedes-Benz with self-supporting car body. The streamlined pontoon shape dispensed with patch fenders and interposed footboards therebetween. This offers Ponton models with the same external dimensions more space for the design of the interiors.

1959

With the W110 Mercedes introduced in 1959 the fintail and a straight elegant body shape. Here, the vehicle frame is characterized by a stable passenger compartment and a crumple zone. The fintails are also marked as a stage indicator and thus as a parking aid.

With the stroke-8 generation of 1968 Mercedes-Benz introduced numerous technical innovations in the W114 and W115 models which are still an integral part of Mercedes-Benz models today.
